I’d like to claim that we had admired Airstreams for many years, had undertaken weeks of research and carefully selected the model we wanted, and then spent weeks inspecting numerous examples until we found the perfect vehicle for us. Sadly, any such claim would be untrue, apart from the first clause. What actually happened was that we saw one advertised in an auction many miles from home, bid on it online and only then went to inspect it. Having chosen such a risky path, our advice would be… DON’T TRY THIS AT HOME FOLKS

Next we had to work out how to get her home. First job was to remove the wheels to buy some new tyres. This had the lucky side-benefit of making the beastie more difficult to steal……

The outside had lots of genuine “patina” to demonstrate the life it has evidently lived.

The interior, meanwhile, pushed us towards a complete strip out and rebuild.
Transport was the first challenge. Fortunately, the unflappable Andy Boyle did a great job in safely bringing her home to us.
